Dialysis, also known as renal replacement therapy, is a procedure to remove excess water, solutes and toxins from the blood of a person. The process helps in maintaining the balance of electrolytes in your body when kidneys cannot perform their job.
In hemodialysis, the blood is made to go through an artificial kidney which removes the waste and extra solutes from the blood. The clean blood is then sent back to the body through a dialysis machine. To perform this process, your doctor will create an entrance in your blood through surgery.
However, peritoneal dialysis is performed by inserting a catheter in the peritoneal membrane of your abdomen. The catheter is filled with a liquid called dialysate that absorbs extra waste from the body and is then removed at the end of the process. The complete process can take a few hours and has to be performed quite a few times per day.
The department of dialysis at Kanak Nursing home is well equipped with state-of-the-art machines. The doctors and technicians are highly skilled and compassionate as well. We use ultrapure RO water for quality dialysis. The dialysis department is operational 24×7 and is available for critically-ill patients and intensive care patients.
